Robert N. Murdock, 59, of Rock Island, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 6, 2016 at his home.

There will be a gathering for family and friends from 2pm until 5 pm Sunday at the Blue Cat Brew Pub, 112 18th Street, Rock Island.  Please bring photos of Bob that you could share with his family and a dish to pass if you'd like.  Memorial services will be 11 am Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to support his son, Montgomery's education.

Robert Nelson Murdock was born Feb. 8, 1957 in Reno, NV, a son of Stanridge and Carolyn Lewis Murdock.  He married Jodean Rousey on March 3, 2002 in Rock Island. Their son, Montgomery Stanridge Murdock, was born May 18, 2004.

Bob was bar manager extraordinaire at the Blue Cat Brew Pub, Rock Island.  He previously managed a Funny Bone Comedy Club in Ohio, and came to the Quad Cities in 1992 to open and manage the Funny Bone in Davenport.

He was known by all as Dr. Bob. He was a generous, kind, and loving friend to everyone he met. He attended and supported local theater and the visual arts. Bob would help anyone in need. He loved his son deeply and Montgomery was his greatest passion.

Survivors include his son, Montgomery; brothers, Dan and Chris Osman and sisters, Loni Murdock and Lani Petrilla, all of Ohio;  and other loving family members, Jodean Meleski and Sherrie and Phil Herbst, all of Rock Island.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
