Robert L. Squires Sr., 80, of Moline, passed away Wednesday July 22, 2015 at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehab, Rock Island.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, with visitation from 10:00am to service time. Military Honors will be presented by American Legions 569, 200 and VFW 1303. Memorials may be left to Gilda's Club Quad Cities, ARC of the Quad City Area and American Cancer Society.
Robert was born on May 22, 1935 in Quincy, IL, the son of Walter P. Squires and Pearlena (Charles) Bigsby Lang. He married Mary E. Williams on December 12, 1955 in Moline. Robert was a graduate of Moline High School, Class of 1953.
Mr. Squires had been a member of Bricklayers Local #6, Rock Island, for 57 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.
Robert was a active member of Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. He loved woodworking, outdoor yard work, brick laying and music.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; children, Robert L. Squires Jr., Aurora, IL, Curtis "Jay" (Deanna) Squires, Solon, IA, Sherry Squires, Rock Island, Linda (Richard) Desper, Moline; grandchildren, Robert Squires III (Kaylynn) , Abigail (Neal) Bush, Jaysson Squires, Courtney Squires, Richard Carlson and his girlfriend Allison; great grandchildren, Nathan Bush, Olivia Bush and Charlee Ann-expected in October 2015; dearest friends, Ryan, Shannon and Regan LaPay; his four legged buddy Major Bob aka "Bo".
