Obituary

Robert L. Widmer, 91, of Milan, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 surrounded by family at his residence.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at church.  Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island with military honors presented by Moline Legion Post #246.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Robert was born on September 20, 1930 in Rathbun, IA, the son of Louis and Anna (Morris) Widmer.  He married Rose Kauzlarich on June 20, 1953 in Rathbun, IA.  Robert was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.  Robert worked as a salesman at Marlin Wholesale, Rock Island, for 52 years.  He loved to cut grass and be around home with family and friends.  Robert was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, Rock Island and Moline Legion Post #246.

The family would like to give a special thank you to his morning coffee friends at the farm, for being there for him and his family, and for taking good care of him for many years.

Robert is survived by his wife, Rose Widmer; brother, Jim Widmer; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janice Schoolen.
