Rocklett E. "Rocky" Smith , 79, of Rock Island, IL, passed away Saturday December 4, 2021.

Services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, IL, with visitation one hour prior to services. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.

Rocklett was born June 12, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky, a son of Willis Napoleon Smith and Gertrude Savannah Dutton Smith. He married Eilene Murphy on September 3, 1976 in East Moline, IL.

Rocklett was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked at Caterpillar for many years.

He was a member of Christ Apostolic Church, Davenport, where he was a minister, deacon and taught Sunday School. He loved reading, studying the bible, and teaching others. Rocklett also enjoyed playing chess, and a good cup of coffee while reading.

Those left behind to cherish his memory, are his wife, Eilene M. Smith, of Rock Island; son and daughter-in-law, Sedric and Paulita Murphy, Milwaukee, WI; daughter, Miriam Smith, Rock Island; grandchildren, Josua Christopher Murphy and Caleb Josiah Smith; brother, Ralph Smith, Louisville, KY; sisters, Norma Louise Woodfork, Audrey Murray, Wanda Dunn, and Quintella (Raymond) Pulliam, all of Louisville, KY; a host of nieces, nephews, and additional family; and special friends, Bishop Richard Hayslett and Melvin Walton.

Rocklett was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and five brothers.
