Rod Eugene Taylor, 62, of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Rock Island, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday August 27, 2025 at his home.

Visitation will be from 12-1:00 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2025, Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM. Private Inurnment will be at a later date at Chippannock Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Rod was born on January 22, 1963 in Rock Island, the son of Freddie P. and Beverly J. (Boyd) Taylor.  He attended Rock Island High School. In his youth he excelled in Judo and enjoyed basketball camps and swimming.

He worked in the dry-cleaning and restoration business at New Fashion Cleaners, Presstine Cleaners, and Rosie's Dry Cleaners before retiring.

He loved watching sports and CNN, listening to music - especially Earth, Wind & Fire and spending time with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Beverly Taylor, Rock Island; sisters, Yolanda Gabriel, Rock Island, Lita Taylor, Kennesaw, Georgia; nephew, Tremaine Gabriel, Rock Island; step siblings, Delbert (Rosetta) Holliday, Orange Park, Florida, Tyrone Holliday, Quincy, Illinois; several great nieces and great nephews; host of cousins and friends: including special friend, Denise Yancy of Rock Island.

He was preceded in death by his father, Freddie Taylor and stepfather, Michael Holliday, Sr.; stepmother, Kathy Jo (McNamara) Taylor; stepbrother Michael Holliday, Jr. and nephew, Jerrell Gabriel, Sr.
