Rodger Fletcher, 77, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Milan, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at home in Sarasota.
Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241. Memorial contributions may be made in Rodger's memory to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or the American Cancer Society.
Rodger was born on September 15, 1948, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Earl and Mary (McElroy) Fletcher. After graduating from high school, Rodger was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969.
He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, and the Air Medal for his service.
Rodger worked alongside his mother at the Milan Auction Barn before moving to Florida, where he was employed at a Chrysler dealership in Fort Myers.
In Florida, Rodger met Diane Rice, and they enjoyed a wonderful life together until his passing.
Rodger was a member of the VFW in Fort Myers. He was an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tampa Bay Lightning, he also enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his loving partner, Diane Rice; his children, Haley Fletcher and her fiancé, Danny Basler, Conner Fletcher; and his granddaughter, Sophia, all of Cape Coral, Florida.
