Roger J. Durkee, 70, of Moline, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 at his home.
A Memorial visitation and Celebration of Roger's life will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21st, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.
Roger was born May 12, 1944 in Rock Island, a son of Bert R. and Margaret S. "Peg" Sievers Durkee.
He was a telecommunications analyst with John Deere for over 30 years. Roger was a member of the New Windsor Sportsman Club.
He enjoyed fishing, working on his cars and motorcycle, and in earlier years volunteer work.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Tina Durkee, Victoria, IL;
daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Aaron Nitzel, Coal Valley, IL; grandchildren,
James, Jordan and Jenielle Durkee, Whitney, Wesley, Taylor and Trey Norton, Jaycob Durkee,
Hannah and Zachary Nitzel; great-grandchildren, James, Liam, Marley, Eli, Remi and Camryn;
sisters (and spouse), Betty de Groh, Sloan, IA, Karen (Larry) Neal, Colorado Springs, CO and Sandy (Gary) Koester, Rock Island; brother, Reid (Bobbi) Durkee, Eloy, AZ; and several nieces, nephews and additional family.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
