Roger L. Fields, 79, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015, at his residence with his family by his side.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the Rock Island Fire Department or the Quad City Animal Welfare Center.

Roger was born September 16, 1935, in Davenport, the son of Ralph and Delores (Eckhardt) Fields. He married Marilyn Bensch on September 21, 1958, in Rock Island. Roger retired from the Rock Island Fire Department as the Assistant Chief, during his tenure there he not only achieved different ranks, he also owned and operated his own TV and repair business. Roger was an avid gardner, and he enjoyed woodworking and electronics. After his retirement he spent time ballroom and square dancing with his wife.

Roger is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn Fields, Rock Island; sons, Steven Fields, Marathon, WI, and Michael (Tamii Gordy) Fields, Park View, IA; grandson, Jacob Fields; sister, Mary Katherine Reed, Jonesboro, IL; special Chihuahua, Missy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene Fields; and sister-in-law, Margie Fields.
