Obituary

Ronald "Ron" E. Ayers, 79, of Lynn Center, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Milan.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 East 4th Avenue, Milan. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or ARC of the Quad Cities.

Ron was born September 1, 1946 in Moline, the son of Donald and Betty (Handley) Ayers. He married Evelyn Wagner and they raised two children together before later separating. Ron went on to marry Rita Sickler and she preceded him in death on May 2, 2002.

Ron retired from John Deere. He was a member of Local UAW 434 and Swedona Lutheran Church. His hobbies included working on cars, going to the casino, building things, and hanging out at the Welcome Inn in Milan. Ron had a big heart and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He truly was a jack of all trades.

Survivors include his children, Michael (Lori) Ayers, Terri (Troy) McLean, Tammy Ayers, Tina Streitmatter, Viola Fisk and Ted Sickler; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Candy Ayers and Dee (Trent) Allison; brothers, Rick (Barb) Ayers, Denny (Sherry) Ayers, Terry (Cindy) Ayers and Tim (Doreen) Ayers; best friend, Nuredin "Denny" Kadriu; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita; parents; daughter, Denise; grandson, Trenton; brother, Kevin; and sisters, Robin and Pam.
