Obituary

Ronald "Ronnie" Lee Minteer, 87, of Milan, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 13, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 19, 1938, in Aledo, Ronald was the son of Earnest and Mona (Long) Minteer. He graduated from high school and began a wonderful journey when he married the love of his life, Norma J. Janecke, on June 2, 1956, in Davenport, Iowa. Together, they built a life filled with joy, adventure, and an unwavering commitment to their family.

Ronald's greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends. He was a devoted father and grandfather, taking immense pride in watching his children and grandchildren thrive in their school and sports endeavors. His support for his daughters was evidenced by his enthusiastic coaching of their softball teams. Ronald enjoyed playing softball for 20 years and in his last year had the unique and cherished opportunity to play softball on the same team as his son. In the professional realm, Ronald dedicated 30 years to Oscar Meyer, contributing to his community with integrity and steadfast work ethic. Upon retiring, he discovered a passion for golf, achieving the remarkable feat of seven hole-in-ones, and relished spending time traveling and camping with Norma in their RV, particularly enjoying their winters in sunny Florida. An ardent sports fan, Ronald passionately supported the Dodgers, Bears, and Illini. Ronald is survived by his loving children: Sharee (Mark) Sloan, Mark (Carolyn) Minteer, Jill Rice, Jodi (Jim) Huhn, and Brenda (John) Baumunk; his cherished grandchildren: Lindsay, Ronnie, Emilie, Erik, Megan, Allie, Haley, Jeremy, Johnny, and Hanna; as well as 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Dean Minteer. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry, Elwood, and Maynard Minteer; sister, Darlene Needham; and one great-grandchild. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in Ronald's name to the Parkinson's Foundation or St. Jude. Online condolences may be left for the family at wheelanpressly.com.
