Ronald R. Shoup, 66, of Rock Island, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at his home with his loved ones at his side after a brief battle with cancer. He was a fighter and fought his cancer until the very end. A memorial gathering to honor Ron's life will be held at 12 pm, Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the Milan American Legion. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family.

Ron was born on December 1, 1948 in Moline, the son of Donald and Charlotte (Frank) Shoup. He was raised in Rock Island and graduated from Rock Island High School. He married Carol Hargrave on November 17, 2005 in Jerseyville, Illinois. Ron had retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 150 after 37 years. He worked as a heavy equipment operator. Ron enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Carol; mother, Charlotte Shoup, Rock Island; children, Denise (Marvin) Douglas, Punta Gorda, FL., Donald (Janet) Shoup, Bradenton, FL.; step children, Robert (Amanda) McCleary, Sherrard and Michael (Jillian) McCleary, Eldridge; four grandchildren; and three step grandchildren.
