Rosalie A. Scherrer, 74, of Bagley, Wisc., formerly of Rock Island, a loving wife and mother, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at her daughter's home in Rock Island after a short and courageous battle with lung cancer. Cremation rites were accorded. Services will be private. A memorial gathering will be held for family and friends from 1-4 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at her daughter's home; Beth Koberstein, 1528 26th Ave., Rock Island, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Bagley First Responders, 13381 Pine Lane, Bagley, Wisc. 53801.
Rosalie was born October 31, 1940 in Pershing, Iowa, a daughter of George and Mary Dernovich McDowell. She graduated from Rock Island High School.
Rosalie married Harley Scherrer on March 14, 1959 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2013.
Rosalie was a beautician in Rock Island and Milan for many years. Rosalie and her husband, Harley, retired to Bagley, Wisc. after spending their weekends there for more than 25 years.
Rosalie was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. After her diagnoses, she said she hoped to be around long enough to watch the opening Packer game. They will be playing their archrival, Chicago Bears. She could talk football including, stats, players and teams better than anyone she would come across!
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Kerri (David) Welch, Holmes Beach, Fla., Beth (Joseph) Koberstein, Rock Island and Christine M. (Brian) Hunecke, Lindenhurst, Ill.; five grandsons, Matthew, Nathan, David (Molly), Jordan and Hans; granddaughter, Madeline; siblings, Carrie Feguson, Wichita, Kan., Ronald (Minnie) McDowell, Davenport, George McDowell, Bettendorf and Larry (Carol) McDowell, Taylor Ridge; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
