Roscoe Dean "Jick" Powell died June 16, 2015, at Mesa Vista Nursing Home in Boulder, Colorado, three days before his 97th birthday.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17th, at Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Edgington. Inurnment will be at Edgington Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 16th, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Memorials may be made to Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Roscoe was born on June 19, 1918 in rural Drury Township, Rock Island County, IL, the youngest of Sherman M. and Margaret T. Powell's eight children. He married Betty June Mueller on November 20, 1941 at Edgington Presbyterian Church who preceded him in death on October 15, 2001.
Roscoe farmed in rural Drury Township near Illinois City, IL. He was a member of the Illinois City United Methodist Church serving on numerous committees. Additionally, he was a longtime member of Rock Island County's Farm Bureau.
Roscoe enjoyed gardening. He had a strong knowledge of history, and aspired to give his children a solid education. He also appreciated spending time with his family and grandchildren as well as his pet dogs and cats.
