Rose Goldsmith, 91, St. Louis Park, Minn., formerly of Rock Island,
passed away on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Congregation Beth Israel at
the Tri City Jewish Center, Rock Island. Burial is at Hebrew Cemetery,
Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting
the family. Memorials may be sent to The Mayo Foundation, 200 1st St.

Rose was born on Sept. 2, 1922, and graduated from Rock Island High
School in 1939. She married Leonard Goldsmith on June 22, 1944. He
passed away on April 27, 2001.
She attended Moline Business College and was employed as a secretary
to the purchasing agent at Minneapolis-Moline Implement Co. Rose was
later associated with her husband in the operation of Goldsmith's
women's clothing stores in Moline.
Rose is survived by daughters, Linda (Barry) Gersick, Judee Cristy and
Lori (Bill) Prebil; granddaughters, Stephanie Gouette, Andrea (Dan)
Dobrin, Jamie (Mike) Kelly, Jorie (Kevin) Hennessy, Sarah (Austin
Weigel) Prebil and Carolyn Prebil; and great- grandchildren, Jayson
and Samantha Gouette, Hailey and Nyla Dobrin, Patrick, Emily, Charlie
and Anna Kate Kelly, Hannah Hennessy and Ike Weigel. She is also survived by special
niece, Carol Goldstein and special nephews, Dan and Ron Goldstein.
Rose was preceded in death by husband, Leonard Goldsmith; parents,
Lena and Isadore Sanders; sister and brother-in-law, Sonia and Irving
Goldstein; brother, Zal Sanders; niece, Vicki Sanders; and son-in-law,
Jay Cristy.
Rose was a role model for her children and grandchildren and will be
greatly missed.
