Rose "Jinx" Montgomery, 86, of Rock Island, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.  A memorial service for Mrs. Montgomery will be 10:30 am, Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Rose "Jinx" Davis was born on May 9, 1930 in Elkridge, Maryland, a daughter of Emory and Frances Mahan Davis. She married James W. Montgomery in 1952 in Ellicott City, Maryland. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1999.  Jinx graduated from Towson University, Towson, Maryland. She taught school in Maryland before moving to Rock Island.  She later worked at the Rock Island Public Library. After  retirement, she was an active volunteer and served on the auxiliary board at Trinity Medical Center for many years.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Timothy and Martha Montgomery, California; grandsons, Mark, John and Eric; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Jacqueline Bain, North Dakota.
