Rosemary Campagna, 96, of East Moline, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday March 8, 2016 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 am Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Creek Care Center or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Rosemary was born November 22, 1919 in Rock Island, a daughter of Joseph and Carmella (Lodato) Vargo. She married Y.J. Campagna on June 12, 1938 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1995.
Rosemary and her husband operated a neighborhood grocery in Rock Island for many years. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved family gatherings. She was a very good housekeeper and enjoyed working in her yard.
She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Rosemary enjoyed bingo, playing the piano, ceramics and going to the boat.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Robert Lawrence, Rock Island, and Carmella and Robert Reed, Moline;grandchildren (and spouses), Debra (Rob) Duffy, Lisa (Matt) Maxwell, Joseph (Gina) Lawrence, Jeffrey Lawrence, Kim Marie Reed and Todd (Karin) Reed; and great-grandchildren, Jackie, Alex, Elizabeth, Jacob, Jonathan, Annalise, Payton, Carly and Austin.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Sammy; and sister, Antonia "Snooky".
The family would like to thank the staff at Hope Creek Care Center and Hospice Compassus for their excellent care and compassion given to Rosemary during her time in their care.
