Roxanne E. "Roxie" Lampkin, 75, of Rock Island, departed this life, Thursday, April 10, 2014 at her home.Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 21st, at Olivet Baptist Church, Rock Island, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
Roxanne was born November 28, 1938 in East Moline, IL, a daughter of Carney and Betty (Nixon) Fentress. She married Paul E. Lampkin on March 5, 1988 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2010.
Roxanne was employed for 24 years at the John Deere Parts Distribution Center. She retired in 1985.
Roxanne Lampkin confessed her life to Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in East Moline, IL, and later joined Olivet Baptist Church, Rock Island, where she served on the Usher Board and was a member for over 40 years.
She was a Past Matron of Adah Chapter #10 O.E.S., and District Deputy Grand Lecture, 3rd District of Eureka Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star PHA, Past Loyal Lady Ruler of the Tri Cities Assembly #53 Order of the Golden Circle and State Grand Associate Loyal Lady Ruler for the State of Illinoisans PHA, Past Illustrious Commandress of Masqat Court #167 Daughters of Isis and Deputy of Oasis of Rock Island. She also enjoyed bowling and visiting the boats.
Survivors include her uncle, William Fentress, San Marcos, CA; special nieces and nephews, Gail Pittman, Colorado, Ronnie Fentress, Davenport, Lonnie Fentress, Nebraska, Nick Fentress, Muscatine, Jill Pittman-Jones, Colorado, and Karen Jackson, of Rock Island, and a host of additional nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Grace Jackson, Rock Island, Gloria Lampkin, and her husband Cleo, Chicago, whom were constantly at her side; and special friends, Clara Ann Jenkins, Ida Robinson, Parlie McKinney, and others.
Roxanne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Crystal Ganaway, sisters, Theresa Reddick and Connie Carrell, and brother, Arnold Fentress, and special friend, Evelyn Owens.
