Roy J. "Bud" Miller, 87, of Moline, died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Entombment will be in the Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island.
Roy J. Miller was born March 2, 1928 in Rock Island, a son of Roy A. and Rose B. Naab Miller. He married Mary Ann Logan on July 3, 1948 in Rock Island. She died June 30, 1994. Bud later married Beatrice Rutsaert Micklewright on Oct. 11, 1996 in Moline.
He retired from the International Plumbers and Pipefitters Union in 1992, where he was the training and field representative. Bud had also served as the business manager of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 25 for 12 years. As he always said, he was a plumber by trade.
Bud was a US Navy veteran of WW II. He was a long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island, where he served as a lector and trustee for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann "Ricki" and Gary Stimpson, Rock Island, Amy and Larry Daube, Hickory, N.C., and Rose Deibert, Rock Island; son, Mark Miller, Rock Island; daughter-in-law, Mary Miller Lacey, Woodinville, Wash.; step-daughter, Judith (Cary) Bryant, Pickerington, Ohio; step-son, Joseph Micklewright, Davenport; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and three step-grandsons. In addition to his first wife, Bud was preceded in death by a son, Roy Joseph Miller Jr.; brother Richard Miller; and sisters, Sister Barbara Miller, Patricia Miller and Rosemary Quiantance.
