Roy R. Unakis, 77, of Moline, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, 3303 60th St, Moline.  Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Private family burial will be in Wethersfield Cemetery, Kewanee.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homewood Evangelical Free Church.

Roy was born on February 11, 1940 in Kewanee, the son of Alexander P. and Rosalie N. Thompson Unakis.  Roy graduated from Wethersfield High School and served in the U.S. Army.  He also studied at the Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada.  Roy was an Inspector at International Harvester for many years, retiring in the 90s.  He was very involved at Homewood and held several church offices.  He was also involved with Wycliffe Bible Translators and had a passion for Child Evangelism.

Left to cherish his memory are several cousins, including Lee (Vicki) Lash of Quincy, and "Loving Grandchildren," Andy, Karen, Edmund, Joel, Joanna and Elliot.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
