Ruby L. Thomas, 65, of Rock Island, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Olivet Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family.

Ruby Lee Jones was born on October 8, 1949 in Crystal Springs, MS, a daughter of Henry "Dock" and Lela Wilson Jones. She married Wilbert Thomas in 1979 in Crystal Springs, MS. Ruby was a teacher in the R.I. School District Head Start Program for 13 years. She retired in 1992.

Ruby was a woman of strong faith who enjoyed leading others to the Lord through her prayer and encouragement. She was a Prayer Warrior who loved reading the Bible and being with family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Wilbert, Rock Island; son, Anthony Jones, Bettendorf; daughter, Melissa Jones, Moline; grandchildren, Ti'Draea, Sha'Miracle, and Anthony Jones; and siblings, Tinnie Mae Johnson, Willie Harges, Alma Ford, Addie Hooks and Willie James Jones, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Harges.
