Ruth E. Hart, 92, long-time resident of Milan, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Summit of Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Private burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan.
Ruth was born April 11, 1931, in Palmyra, Missouri, to Clarence O. and Dorthea K. (Voepel) Knueppel. She graduated from Palmyra High School in 1949 and attended the Lutheran School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating in 1952. Ruth married Norman L. Hart in 1953. He preceded her in death in 1985. Ruth worked as a registered nurse at Lutheran Hospital for 17 years and retired from the Rock Island School district as a school nurse after 18 years. She was a charter member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Milan where she was very active. Ruth enjoyed traveling and gardening. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish Ruth's memory include her daughters, Judy (Don) Cochran, and Jan Carr; grandchildren, Lucy (Patrick) Murphy, Paul (Meagan) Cochran, Courtney (Scott) Goad, and Michael Carr; five great-granddaughters; brother, Harold Knueppel; sister, Edna Church; sister-in-law, Jan Hart; and several nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband; mother and father-in-law, Roy and Mary Hart; sister-in-law, Hazel Knueppel; and brothers-in-law, Ronnie Church and Richard Hart.
