Ruth A. Hoyt, 85, of Reynolds passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehab, Moline.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 15th at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made in care of QC Paws (Rock Island County Animal Care & Control) or an organization of your choice. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Reynolds is assisting the family.

Ruth was born on July 7, 1937 in Rock Island County, the daughter of Raymond and Leah (Harter) McGinnis. She married Kenneth Hoyt on March 17, 1957 in Reynolds and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2018. Ruth's passion in life was hairstyling. She owned and operated Ruth's Salon for many years.

Ruth's hobbies included crocheting, gardening, taking care of her animals, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John Hoyt, Rock Island; daughter, Laurie Jones, Lake Forest, CA; grandchildren, Tiffany Hoyt, Austin Hoyt, Flynn and Griffin Jones; great grandchildren, Skye Moore, Star and Sunny Holevot, Dana, Addie, Benji, and Brett Hoyt; and sister, Andrea (Jack) Newton, Reynolds.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; 2 infant children, Christine Leah and Michael Kenneth Hoyt; and brothers, Don, Richard, and Kenneth McGinnis.
