Sammie L. Austin, 63, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at St. Anthony’s Nursing and Rehab, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm., Friday, September 11, 2026 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030-7th Avenue, Rock Island with visitation will be 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. before the service. Memorials can be made to his family.

Sammie was born January 12, 1963 in Charlston, MO, the son of Napoleon Jack and Mattie (Williams) Austin.

Sammie was a car detailer and enjoyed working on cars. He was a jack of all trade and loved music.

Survivors include his life partner of 35 years, Flossie; children, Jeremy (Diane) McDaniel, Rantoul, IL, Jaronda McDaniel, Rock Island and JeVone (Shantell), Moline; grandchildren, India, Jania, Jada, JaNasia, JeMier, JeVone Jr., Journey, JayCeon, JeNez, JaVyanna, Justus, Juste’us and Juste’Adora; 4 great grandchildren; siblings, Eveleana Moore, Springfield, MO, Barbara Rogers, Cairo, IL, Maggie (the late Boot) Hyde, East St. Louis, IL, Lisa (Renee) Pirtle, Cairo, IL, Regina Winders, Sikeston, MO, Bill (Rosemary) Austin, Chicago and Peggy Austin, Cape Girardeau, MO and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and brother, Napoleon, Jr.

His family would like to send a special thank you to Tara his wound nurse, the staff at St. Anthony’s Nursing and Rehab and Compassus Hospice for their special care given to Sammie.
