Sammie W. Vaughn, 80, of Rock Island, was called home to be with the Lord,in the early morning of Friday, November 17, 2017 at UnityPoint-Trinity, Rock Island.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday at Peoples Missionary Baptist Church, Rock Island, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Arrangements are entrusted to Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Peoples Missionary Baptist Church, Rock Island.

Sammie W. Vaughn was born on November 10, 1937 in Louisville, Mississippi. Sammie confessed Christ at an early age, and accepted him as his personal Savior. He attended Peoples Missionary Baptist Church.  Sammie married Pearline Vaughn in 1964 and out of that union 5 children were born.  Sammie retired from Navistar (Farmall) in 1988.
Sammie loved being with his family and his grandchildren.  His favorite hobbies were fishing, listening to music, and going to church.
Preceding Sammie in death loving parents, Ruel Vaughn and Cleo B. Lidell, his sister Sandra B.Grant, lifelong companion Vinnie Wells, & son Pierre Welcome.

Sammie leaves to cherish his memory his sons; Sammie Lorenzo Vaughn, Thaddeuss Terrell Vaughn, &  Darren Carnell Vaughn, James E. Hall, & Dupree Welcome.  Daughters; Diana Fay Miller, & Debra B. Vaughn, Vickie Wells.  2 brothers; Emmett Jr. Vaughn, & Dwight Bragg.  5 sisters; Carolyn A. Ransom, Effie M. Bragg, Sereatha Hopkins, Virginia (Edward J) Jarrett II,&  Althea R. Redd.  18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Special Aunt Audrey (Dale) Rowse.
