Obituary

Samuel D. Davis, 37, of Moline, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in Rock Island. Memorial services for Sam will be 1:30 pm, Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family or to an account established in Sam's name at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union. Checks need to be made out to Samuel D. Davis.

Sam was born on June 13, 1977 in Moline, a son of Richard H. W. Davis and Donna Jeskie Davis. He had worked as a waiter at the Blue Cat Brew Pub in Rock Island. Sam was a proponent of the Gay Pride Movement. He was a performer, loving music and acting and a member of the Moline Boy's Choir, lead singer for the bands Dirge and Stonefish a few years back.

Survivors include his mother and step father, Donna and David Evans, Coal Valley; step mother, Ellie Unley Davis, Rock Island; brothers, Benjamin Davis, Spokane, Washington; Douglas Davis, Rock Island and Thomas Davis, Moline; step sister, Lynn Evans, East Moline; step brothers, Tommy Unley, Rock Island and Michael Evans, Phoenix, Arizona; and a very large and loving network of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sam was preceded in death by his father, Richard; grandparents, Ruth Jeskie Green, Donald Jeskie, Evelyn Davis Stevenson, Harold Davis; step grandfathers, Gerald Green and Frank Stevenson.
