Samuel E. Johnson, 76, was born on December 28, 1946, in Brinkley, Arkansas.  He died December 31, 2022, at Hines Veteran's Center, Hines, Illinois.  He was the son of Alfred Johnson and Ruth (Moss) Johnson.  He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1965.  He graduated from Black Hawk College, Moline, Illinois with an A.A. degree and Allied Institute of Technology.

Sam was employed by John Deere Harvester and Motorola Corporation.  He retired as an Independent Contractor in Informational Technology.  He was a United States Army veteran.

Those left to cherish Sam's memory include sisters Betty Salton and Doris Jones, Tampa, Florida; brother, Reverend Dr. Donald William (Rhonda) Johnson, Rock Island, Illinois; caregiver, cousin, Beverley Lee Thomas, Chicago, Illinois; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joe Ann Newborn; brothers, Kenneth Johnson and Charles Johnson; nephews, Kevin Salton and Barry Newborn.

Services for Mr. Johnson will be 11 am, Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030-7th Ave, Rock Island. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will at 12:30 pm at the Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
