Samuele "Sam" Leone, 92, of Rock Island, passed away Monday June 2, 2014 at Unity Point-Trinity, Rock Island.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island, with a rosary recited at 5:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island.

Samuele was born April 7, 1922 in Rock Island, a son of Giuseppe and Anna Carlino Leone. He married Lucia Blanda on July 18, 1940 in Prizzi, Sicily, Italy. She preceded him in death on August 7, 2011.

Sam was retired from the John Deere Foundry, East Moline, for almost 30 years. In earlier years he was a construction worker for many years.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island and U.A.W. Local 865. He was a past member of the Sons of Italy.

Sam loved family gatherings, gardening, and walking.

He is survived by his children (and spouses), Salvatore "Sam" (Mary Ann) Leone, East Moline, Mario (Pat) Leone, Anna Leone, and Frank (Janet) Leone, all of Rock Island, Dino (Tracy) Leone, Taylor Ridge, and Arthur "Art" (Kelly) Leone, Dayton, OH; daughter-in-law, Salvatrice "Salvina" Leone, Rock Island; grandchildren, Roberto Leone, Adriano Leone, Angela (Ted) Paprocki, Antonio (Mary) Leone, Mario (Emilene) Leone, Janean (Gary) DePaepe, Marco (Amy) Leone, Alyssa Leone, Dominic Leone, Gina Leone and Vincent Leone; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, George, Ross and Joe Leone, all of California, and Frank Leone, Italy; sister, Maria, of California; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Josephine Leone, son, Giuseppe "Joe" Leone, and one brother, Mario Leone.
