Sandra JoAnn Henry, 82, of Milan, formerly of California, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. Services for Ms. Henry will be 11 am, Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Moline at a later date. Memorials may be made to Alleman High School, Rock Island or the Braille Institute of Orange County, California. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting the family. Sandra was born on August 19, 1935 in Moline, a daughter of Greely and Minnie Henry. She graduated from Alleman High School, Rock Island and attended St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Rock Island, graduating 1956. She later received her Master's Degree in Nursing from the University of Iowa. Sandra worked as an inspector for the State of California, retiring in 1990. She was a volunteer at the Braille Institute in Anaheim, California. In 2016 she received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Trinity College of Nursing. Sandra was a member of St. Columban Catholic Church, Garden Grove, California. She enjoyed cooking, reading and going to casinos. Survivors include a nephew and niece, Preston and Joyce Zawada, Milan; great nieces and nephews, Elizabeth "Lisa" and Brian Coberly, Taylor Ridge, James Zawada, Coyne Center, Lori and Alan Zahringer, Moline, Joe and Chris Zawada, Milan; great-great nieces and nephews, Jennifer and John Richter, Westfield, NJ., Brandan and Raeann Zawada, Milan, Evan and Dani Coberly, Bettendorf, Betsy and Ally Zahringer, Moline; great-great-great nieces and nephews, Presly, Phinly and Pagan Zawada and Hudson and Grayson Coberly. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Erma Henry; sister and brother in law, Margaret and Clarence Richeson; and a great-great nephew, Calvin Zahringer.
