Sandra J. Jahns, 76, of Milan, died Friday, October 17, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be at 11:00a.m. Thursday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Sandra Jo Gillette was born on April 6, 1938 in Milan, the daughter of John and Margaret (Williams) Gillette. She attended Rock Island public schools and graduated from Rock Island High School, she then graduated from the Moline Public School of Nursing. Sandy married Harvey L. Jahns on December 6, 1968 in Milan.

Sandy worked as a Registered Nurse for Moline Public Hospital and at Arrowhead Ranch. She was also former chairperson of the Arrowhead Ranch Round-Up. Sandy was a charter member of the Milan Lioness Club and a host mother for over 20 foreign exchange students over the years. She was also nominated a "Woman of Spirit and Note" by her daughter, Becky, and received an award from KWQC TV-6 in 1991. Sandy was a public servant who loved nothing more than helping others. She also kept a special place in her heart for her cat, Abbey, and her beloved Green Bay Packers.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Matthew Jahns, Virginia Beach, Virginia and Rebeccah Jahns, Milan; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Noah, Matthew and Annie Heaton; sisters by choice, Betty Boltz and Anna Weinert; an aunt, Hope Gillette; her special cat, Abbey, and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband,Harvey; parents and a son, Corey.
