IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra "Sandy"
L. Moritz
April 11, 1940 – February 8, 2022
Sandra "Sandy" Moritz of Milan, died peacefully at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022.
Sandy was born April 11, 1940 in Moline to Shirley and Larrance Lofgren. She married Max Moritz on February 8, 1957. Sandy missed wedding anniversaries without Max since his death in 2013, so she decided to take his hand and join him in eternal life on their 65th wedding anniversary. Sandy loved sapphires, and Max loved giving them to her. Ironically, the 65th wedding anniversary gift is sapphires and a castle tour. Sandy and Max are now dancing on their castle in the clouds, and Sandy is sporting a new ring.
Survivors include children: Jeff (Amber) Moritz of Rock Island, Jill Moritz Barr and friend Bill Barr of Peoria, Stacey (Tom) Teager of Milan, and Jason (Heather) Moritz of Simpsonville, South Carolina. Grandchildren: Courtney (Aaron) Ziegler, Ryan (Corey Mason) Moritz, Ashlee Moritz, Eric Moritz, Lauren Barr, Darah Hannan, Seth (Craig Resendes) Hannan, Jennilee Walsh, Andrew Patterson, Janelle Moritz, Eain (Amie) Moritz, Paige Teager, Ali (Don) Bell, and 32 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Rene Lofgren of Blue Grass.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and son Scott.
Sandy loved NASCAR, talking on the phone, Days of Our Lives, plastic canvas and yarn, Johnny Mathis, cozy nightgowns, Danielle Steele novels, but above all she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was indeed one of a kind.
A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, February 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Burial will be with Max in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center or to daughter, Jill, for her Race for the Cure team.
