Sandy C. Morel, 67, of Milan, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Private inurnment will be later at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. A Christian wake service will precede the visitation at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.
Sandy C. Flores was born May 3, 1947 in Rock Island, a daughter of Ralph and Lelia Segura Flores. She married Frank L. Morel on Oct. 30, 1971 in East Moline.
Sandy graduated from Alleman High School in 1966. In early years she worked as a beautician and later served in many capacities at Jordan Catholic School, including, working in the office, teaching some elective courses, assisting the cheerleaders and driving the bus. She most recently worked in the office at A Plus Home Health Care, Moline.
She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a long-time member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island. Sandy was also a member of the Rock Island County Democratic Women. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed meeting with her high school graduating class friends. She relished her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved attending all of her family's activities. Sandy was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, Frank; children, Brian (Angela) Morel, Bettendorf, Nikki (Randy) Short, Latrobe, Penn., Scott (LeRon) Morel, Muscatine, Frank (Megan) Morel, Rock Island, and Susie (Brett) Clark, Hampton; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandson; sister, Patricia (Ronald) Boyd, Milan; brother, Ralph (Susie) Flores Jr., Davenport; and many loving cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
