Sarah Ellen Sacco, 90, of Bettendorf, formerly of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017 at her home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7 Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be held from 1 pm until service time.  Private inurnment will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Trinity College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Sarah Ellen Stubbs was born Jan. 24, 1927 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Sarah Hodges Stubbs.  She married Louis F. Sacco on Oct. 22, 1949 in Rock Island.

Sarah graduated from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Moline and received her BSN from St. Ambrose College, Davenport.  She retired from the Rock Island - Milan Public Schools, where she was a school nurse and worked with the special needs children at Eugene Field Elementary School.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island, and its Altar and Rosary Society.  Sarah was also a member of the Alumni Association of Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing.  She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ.

Survivors include her husband, Louis; children, Annette Sacco, Davenport, James Sacco (Steven Stewart), Atlanta, Ga., and Susan Sacco, Rock Island.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, John, William and Harry Stubbs.
