Savon J. Ahlman, 82, of Rock Island, departed this life on Sunday November 18, 2018 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Visitation will be from 5-7pm Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 12 Noon Wednesday November 28, 2018 at Westside Church of Christ, Rock Island, with additional visitation 11:00am to service time.

Savon was born Sylvia Yvonne Jones on October 26, 1936 in Peoria, the daughter of Ferdinand Jones and Edna Jordan. Savon had moved back to Illinois from Washington DC in 1987 at which time she met her loving companion, Victor Readus.

She was currently employed with the Rock Island School District as a librarian in Thurgood Marshall School and at the Rock Island library. Previously, Savon had worked in the Washington DC area for 25 years at Garrett Park Elementary School, Montgomery County, Maryland as a school teacher and in the District of Columbia Recreational Department as a supervisor.

Savon loved singing, dancing, shopping, movies with her son Dwight, eating out with the love of her life, family gatherings and riding to the park.

She was a devoted member of Westside Church of Christ and had been active with Royal Neighbors and Semper Fidelis Club.

Those left to cherish her memory sons, Dwight Hallman of Rock Island, David (Renee) Hallman of Clinton, Maryland; sisters, Joyce Jackson, Cecilia Jordan; brother, Ferdinand Jones; fiancé, Victor Readus; stepdaughter, Sherita (Pedie) Readus; grandchildren, Victoria, Marcus, Markiyah, Aaliyah and special friend, Johnny Readus; a host of friends and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
