Seth J. McCarthy, 39, of Rock Island, died Sunday, July 24, 2016 at UnityPont Health- Trinity Rock Island.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, where a prayer service will be held at 7 pm.  Memorials may be made for a trust fund to be established for his son, Nicholas.

Seth was born Sept. 15, 1976 in Rock Island, he was the loving son of Jim and Robin Tacey McCarthy.

He had a heart of gold and would light up a room when he walked in.  Seth was an avid Notre Dame and Bear's fan and would have golfed seven days a week if he could.  The biggest joy in his life was his beloved son, Nicholas.

Those left to cherish honor Seth's memory include his son, Nicholas; parents, Jim and Robin, Rock Island; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Deana McCarthy, Reynolds; grandmother, Lois McCarthy, Rock Island; nephews, Julian Davidson and Blake McCarthy; niece, Jourdian McCarthy; his life-long band of brothers; several aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Irene Tacey and Edwin McCarthy; uncles, Dan and Jeff McCarthy; and cousin, Thea Mink.
