Obituary

Shala S. Mannoochahr

April 17, 1976 - March 26, 2026

Shala Mannoochahr, 49, of Bettendorf, beloved mother, daughter, granddaughter and friend, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 26, 2026, surrounded by those closest to her. She was a woman defined by her selflessness, warmth, and unwavering love for others.

Shala was born on April 17, 1976 in Moline, the daughter of Susan (Burnett) Hannah. She graduated from Orion High School in 1994 and went on to pursue her passion for helping people through both nursing and cosmetology. She worked as a registered nurse with UnityPoint Health in the Quad Cities for over two decades, where she touched countless lives with her compassion, kindness, and dedication. In addition to her nursing career, she was also a talented barber and hairstylist, bringing not only skill but genuine connection and joy to everyone who sat in her chair.

She married Mano Mannoochahr in 1997, and they spent 17 years raising their family together.

She was preceded in death by her best friend Matt Adams, and her beloved grandmothers, Grandma Mitchell and Grandma Hokie; her sister-in-law, Gatee Gul; and her beloved furbaby, Veda.

She is survived by her mother, Susan Hannah, her grandparents Leona and Jim Burnett; her children, Keely and Deleir, who each carry pieces of her with them - through careers in medicine and barbering that reflect her compassion and connection with others; and her beloved furbaby, Ozzy, who brought her endless comfort and joy during the most difficult time of her life.

To know her was to know kindness in its purest form. Shala had a magnetic personality – full of life, positivity, and a genuine love for people. She had a bright, beautiful presence and a natural ability to connect with anyone in the room. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she carried immense pride in her children and their accomplishments.

She shared a special bond with her best friends, Kayla Truitt and Joni Lopez-Garcia, built on laughter, loyalty, and several years of shared life.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Wagle and to all the incredible caregivers whosupported her with compassion and dignity.

Her love, strength, and spirit will live on in everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

A gathering to celebrate her memory will be from 12:00 to 3:00PM Saturday 4, 2026 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island.

In lieu of flowers, she kindly requested that memorial donations be made to the Ohl Foundation, whose care and support meant so much to her.
