It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon L. Baraks (née Nesseler), of Milan, who left us peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the age of 85. Sharon was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who brought joy, laughter, and warmth to everyone she met.
Funeral services for Mrs. Baraks will be 10 am, Wednesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 pm to 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the ARC of the Quad Cities.
Born on October 12, 1939, in Illinois, Sharon was the beloved daughter of the late Bernard C. Nesseler and June L. (Durick) Nesseler. Her parents were married on April 28, 1951, and instilled in Sharon the values of family, resilience, and compassion.
Sharon was the loving mother of two daughters, Penny Moskaloff, Lynn Jacobs.
Sharon shared her life with her loving husband, Dennis Baraks, whom she married on May 5, 1973. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. She was the cherished sister of Everett Nesseler (Joyce), Ralph Nesseler (Linda), Richard Nesseler (Constance), and the late Robert Nesseler. She is also remembered fondly by her stepsiblings, Leona, Don, and the late Kenneth Reynolds.
Sharon's dedication to caring for others extended into her career. She began her work at Lexington Nursing Home, where she touched many lives, before moving on to Watts Recycle and Disposal, where she worked until her retirement.
Family was the center of Sharon's world. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to five grandchildren and a joyful great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. Known for her boundless love and spirited personality. Her life was full of love, laughter, and purpose. Sharon's kind heart, infectious smile, and unforgettable sense of humor made her the light of every room and the heartbeat of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, selflessness, and joyful living. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
