Sharon K. Burns, 83, of Rock Island, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. A Mass Christian Burial will be 10 am, Wednesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Sharon was born on January 18, 1942, in Moline, a daughter of Archie and Helen (Shuman) McMurray. She married Joseph Burns on July 12, 1969, in Moline. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2020. Sharon and her husband, Joe, owned the 14th Avenue Waffle Shop, Rock Island, retiring in 2009.  She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, attending her grandchildren's activities, coffee with friends at McDonalds, and her dog, "Miss Sassy".

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, David (Lisa) Burns, Woodbridge, Va., Paul (Anna) Burns, Aiea, Hawaii, Brian Burns, Rock Island, Bernadette (Jason) Gustafson, Cambridge, Ill. and Anna (Scott) Anders, Rock Island; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Sandra David, Rock Island, Randy (Deb) McMurray, Rock Island, and Dixie Reed (Randy Fechner).

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Joseph.
