Sherrie Sue Dake, 78, of Milan, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022, at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 9, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church, Milan. Visitation will be held from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Wheatland, IA. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Milan in care of the Deacons. Sherrie and family have requested that visitors dress casual attire for services, in Sherrie's words "no suits, no ties, and no tears."
Sherrie was born on July 11, 1944 in Maquoketa, IA, the daughter of Gilmore E. and Elaine F. (Dann) Schanze. She retired from Hobart Corporation after 33 years as office manager. Previously she worked at Dalchow Plumbing, Lost Nation, IA. Sherrie was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. She enjoyed reading, gardening, planting flowers, cooking and baking. In her younger years she traveled through 48 states via motorcycle. Sherrie was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Milan.
Sherrie is survived by her significant other, Donald L. Reynolds; daughter, Tamyra (Christian) Goss; stepchildren, Donald D. Reynolds, Travis (Leslie) Reynolds, and LaTrisha Reynolds; grandchildren, James D. "J.D." (Karyn) LaRue and Amanda (Paul) Palango; sister, Glenda (Jim) Lee; 3 step sisters, Carm, Sherami, and Jolene; two special nieces, Laurie and Pam; and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire UnityPoint Hospice Team for their excellent care and compassion they showed to Sherrie and family during their time of need.
