Sherrod A. Ferguson, 61, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at his home.  A funeral service for Sherrod will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Greater Antioch Baptist Church, Rock Island.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.  Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made to the Robert Young Center's Peer Recovery Program.  Church condolences may be made to The Word Church, 356 16th Avenue, East Moline, IL 61244 or to thewordchurchone@yahoo.com

Mr. Ferguson was born February 7, 1961 in Chicago, a son of Marcell J. Ferguson and Pearline Day.  He married Desi Abbott on August 2, 1980 in Chicago, they later divorced but remained great friends.  Sherrod worked for the Robert Young Center as a Peer Recovery Specialist.  He loved his job and giving back to help those in need.  He was a member of Greater Antioch Baptist Church where he participated in the Men's Ministry and often volunteered his time.   Sherrod loved spending time with his family, playing basketball, dominoes and when weather permitted, would find him fishing.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Claudine Anders, Moline; Sherrod A. Harris, Cicero; Sharron A. Ferguson, Rock Island; Alicia S. Ferguson, Des Moines, IA; Courtney Coleman, Chicago; Sherrod A. Ferguson, Jr., Chicago and Christopher Herns, Chicago; a host of grandchildren, and great grandchildren; siblings, Tambra (Willie) Heffner, Jene Caldwell, Tawnya (Willie Shirley) Ferguson, Marcel (Roberta) Covington, Lovie Covington, Diana Covington –Green and many extended family members and friends.
