Sherry J. Shrake, 68, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday March 1, 2023 at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehabilitation, Rock Island.

A memorial visitation will be held Monday March 13, 2023 from 4:00-7:00pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Sherry was born on September 15, 1954 in Moline, the daughter of Dale and Jean (Bras) Wolverton. She attended Rock Island elementary schools and graduated from Rock Island High School after which she attended Black Hawk College earning a Associate's Degree.

She married Terry Shrake in April of 1975. Early in her life, Sherry worked in the grocery business with Eagles Co., managed Haag Drug Store and Uptown Bank beforeleaving to raise her two children. Through the years,Sherry was actively involved in helping plan and organize fundraising events for local groups and schools. She served on several committees during her time as a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and School. She loved working in the community and helping others. She was creative in everything she did. She loved working with arts and crafts, and in later years, developed a skill in creative writing.

Her true love was her family and attending her grandchildren's activities. She enjoyed playing bingo with her circle of friends and was an avid Chicago Cub and Green Bay Packer fan.

Survivors include her children, Andy and Annmarie Shrake, Rock Island, Leslie and Carl Thompson, Moline; grandchildren, Devon Hurley, Samara Thompson, Gabriel Thompson, Emma Shrake, Lillian Shrake, Charley Shrake; sister, Lisa and Chris Ales, Davenport; brother, Mike Wolverton, Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and JeanWolverton.
