Shirley A. Batterson, 82, of Bettendorf, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Trinity, Rock Island surrounded by her loving family after a very short illness.

Visitation will be 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2026 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030-7th Avenue, Rock Island. Private burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Chippiannock Cemetery Heritage Foundation.

Shirley was born November 12, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Maurice Lee and Ama Delta “Lucy” (Jackson) Lenox. She married Howard Batterson in June 1967 in Rock Island.

Shirley worked alongside her husband, Howard for many years at their family office supply business, Business Systems, Inc., Rock Island.

Shirley enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was phenomenal at organizing everything and loved children and animals.

Those to mourn her life include the love of her life, Howard; children, Joyce Batterson, Bettendorf, and Deren (Michelle) Batterson, Davenport; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joann (Chuck) Barr, Sherman, TX, and Regina (Wayne) Barnes, Kattawa, KY, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, many siblings, daughters, Noel Batterson Reynolds and Tera Batterson Schmelzer and her mother and father-in-law.
