Shirley A. Gay, 77, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday October 23, 2022 at Friendship Manor Silver Cross Nursing and Rehab, Rock Island.

Visitation is Saturday October 29,2022 at 9am and funeral services will follow at 10am at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, with Pastor Willie E. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be left to the family.

Shirley was born on June 14, 1945 in Charleston, Missouri, the daughter of LC and Rosie B. Northern. She married Johnny Gay on May 13,1972.

Mrs. Gay was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.

She was a member of Peoples Missionary Baptist Church, Rock Island. She was happiest at family gatherings and spending time with her grandbabies who she loved dearly. Shirley will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Johnny; children, Kenna (Shallum) Davenport, Anthony Gay; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Della Bennett, Subrine Northern and Francis (Fred) Nothern, and a host of extended family.

She was preceded in death by her son, Andre Jones Gay; parents, LC and Rosie; brothers, Eugene and Angelo Jones; sisters, Alma Foulks and Loretta Vesey.
