Shirley A. Clarke, 72, of Taylor Ridge, died Friday, December 4, 2020 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.  In-person services will be private.  A live-stream funeral will be broadcast at 10 am Saturday, December 12, 2020 by visiting https://vimeo.com/487688874, and can be watched again after 5 pm by visiting the same link.  Burial will be at Reynolds Cemetery, Reynolds, Illinois and the committal prayers may be viewed at https://vimeo.com/488163667.  Memorials in care of Taylor Ridge United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Reynolds, is assisting the family.

Shirley was born in Moline, IL on April 21, 1948, a daughter of William H. and Donna M. Terry Hofmann.  She graduated from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa.  Shirley married Larry Clarke on December 20, 1966.

Shirley worked for several companies in her career.  She found her passion and was most proud of the many years she spent as a substitute teacher at the Rockridge Junior High and High School.

Shirley was an active member of the Taylor Ridge United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, baking, and cooking.  She was always willing to share where she found a great deal.  She also enjoyed attending the many extracurricular activities of her grandchildren.  The passion for her grandchildren was obvious and she never missed an opportunity to share their achievements.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Larry Clarke, Taylor Ridge; sons (and spouses), Todd (Angie) Clarke, Le Roy, IL, Troy (Tami) Clarke, Milan, IL, and Ryan (Mara) Clarke, Orion, IL; grandchildren, Jessica (Joe) Chastain and Cade Clarke, Addison and Zoey Clarke and Will, Zach, and Mat Clarke; and siblings, Roger Hofmann, Judy (Darrell) Hofer, Bill Hofmann and Donald (Debbie) Hofmann.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
