Obituary

Shirley A. Trevor, 85, of Moline, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Memorial services for Mrs. Trevor will be 11 am, Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8:30 pm at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lutheran World Relief.

Shirley was born on July 7, 1929 in Moline, a daughter of Oliver G. Youngert and Anna F. Johnson Youngert. She graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island. She married Curtis Trevor on September 6, 1952 in Rock Island. Her memberships include St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island, the League of Women Voters, various book clubs and sewing clubs. Mrs. Trevor was a co-founder of Earthkeepers.

She was a lifelong resident of the Quad Cities and devoted lifelong member of St. John's. She was interested in a wide variety of things, including books (and book clubs), politics, environmental causes, Chautauqua, and reading for the blind at WVIK. She excelled at cooking, quilting, music (she taught herself the dulcimer, zither and banjo), political discourse, decorating, and antique furniture refinishing.

She had a wide circle of friends. She gloried in the academic, musical, and athletic achievements of her grandchildren. She loved the family's cats and dogs, and forgave their transgressions readily. She loved her family most of all, including cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws on both sides of the family, her grandchildren Ben, Theo, Abby, Connor and Casey, her granddaughter-in-law Fei, her daughters-in-law Mary and Sandy, her sons Alan, David and Charlie, her sister Wilma, and especially Curt, her husband of 62 years. We will all miss her terribly.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis; sons and (spouses), Alan Trevor, Fairfax, VA., David (Mary) Trevor, Bloomington, MN., and Charlie (Sandy Gregorich) Trevor, Madison, WI.; grandchildren Ben and (spouse) (Fei), Theo, Abby, Connor, and Casey; a sister and (spouse), Wilma (Clive) Bradbeer, Charlottesville, VA.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Mariette Person. Online condolences may be left for the family at wheelanpressly.com
