Shirley A. Fitzgerald, 63, of Springfield, formerly of Rock Island, passed away on March 15, 2016 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Rock Island.  Cremation rites have been accorded and Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Monday at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2921 38th Street in Rock Island.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at church.  Private burial will take place at a later date in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Shirley Ann Twitty was born on April 4, 1952 in Moline, a daughter of Chester A. and Dorothy P. Yeater Twitty.  Shirley was born and raised in Rock Island and she graduated from Black Hawk College in 1990 with an Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement.  Shirley had been living in Springfield for the past several years and recently retired as a store clerk from the Springfield Novelty and Gift Company.  She spent many years aiding local law enforcement with crime prevention programs.  She was the President of the Illinois State Crime Prevention Association for several years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Daniel (Patricia) Fitzgerald, Andalusia, Christy (Eric) Pohl, Rock Island; grandchildren, Sean, Matthew, William, Catelyn and Hope Pohl, Samantha Fitzgerald; a sister, Esther (Bill) Eggers, Rock Island; a brother, Arthur (Sharon) Twitty, Moline and several other loving family members and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
