Shirley Jean (Wilkens) Miller, 96, departed this world on January 23, 2024.

Visitation will be from 1-4:00 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory in Milan with a funeral service at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 29, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Coal Valley or to the family.

Shirley was born on the "fourth month, the sixteenth day of 1927" to W. August and Bertha (Umlandt) Wilkens, one of twelve siblings.

In 1944, Shirley married Carl Terrill and together they had five children: Bob (Liz) Terrill, Tom Terrill, Carla Fuller, Bonnie (Jim) Hendricks and Jeanette (Richard) Waterman. Carl passed away in 1973.

In 1977, Shirley married Dennis Miller. Dennis passed away in 2014.

Shirley worked at numerous jobs including the role of supervisor at Jaydon. Shirley enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, her many pets throughout the years, and lottery tickets.

As much as Shirley loved being a mother, her greatest joy was being a grandmother to her nine granddaughters:  Lori (Paul) Hanson, Tracey (Jim) Miller, Sam (Josh) Crow, Bobby Harris, Buffy Terrill, Michelle (Randy) Melody, Wendy (Tom) Peterson, Jenny Gordon, and Faith (Jerame) Mowery  and then a great-grandmother to their 14 children. She had a large extended family and was treasured by many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was predeceased by her husbands, parents, a daughter (Carla), a son (Tom), five sisters and three brothers.

Those left to cherish Shirley's memory include her children, grand, great-grand and great-great grandchildren, one sister and two brothers, nieces and nephews, church friends, her loyal dog, Bo, and anyone who spent time enough with her to embrace her as their "Grandma Shirley".
