Shirley Schneider Willhite, 87, of Davenport, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2015 at the Kahl Home, Davenport.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island, where visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to the Spastic Paralysis Research Foundation or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Shirley Irene Blythe was born November 20, 1927 in Stillwell, IL, the daughter of Charles and Josephine Matticks Blythe. She attended the University of Iowa and later Marycrest College.
She married John Schneider on July 21, 1950 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death in 1980. She later married Leslie Willhite on June 16, 1984 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1986.
Shirley had been a gift buyer for the former Schneider's Drug Store and McCabe's Dept. Store. She later worked in the Lingerie Dept. at the former Betty's Lingerie in East Davenport.
She was a longtime member of South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, where she had been active in the Virtue Circle, Presbyterian Women, VIP Luncheon Program, Logos, and served in the Pastoral Care, Deacon's Support Group, and Parish Nurse Programs.
Shirley was also a member and Hixon Fellowship recipient of the Golden K Kiwanis Club. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan, and enjoyed knitting.
Surviving are her children (and spouses), Jody (Michael) O'Dea, Lehigh Acres, FL, Jamy (John) Cochran, Bettendorf, IA, and Judy Greko, Rock Island; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and dear friend, Donald Fenton.
