Stanley "Stan"
L. Mueller
November 15, 1939 – February 24, 2023
Stanley "Stan" L. Mueller, 83, of Milan, went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 24, 2023, with his daughter by his side. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Services for Mr. Mueller will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at 10:30 am, with viewing from 9:30 am to 10:15 am, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan; officiated by Reverend Kurt Larson. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial fund that will be later established.
Stan was born on November 15, 1939, in Moline, to John and Olga (Mennicke) Mueller of Taylor Ridge. He farmed in rural Taylor Ridge until beginning work at Jaydon Inc., Rock Island. Mr. Mueller was a loyal employee at Jaydon for 38 years, retiring in 2000; where he served as the Warehouse Supervisor. He married the former Dorothy Marx on August 21, 1971, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Milan.
He enjoyed working on the family farm, spending time with his parents and siblings, and being a FFA member during his school years. He graduated from Reynolds High School in 1957. Stan was baptized and confirmed as a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge. He and Dorothy later transferred membership to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Milan, IL.
Stan loved the Lord and sharing his knowledge of the Bible with others! He enjoyed woodworking, working in his garage and took great pride keeping his lawn looking like a golf course. He loved to put puzzles together even picture face down, he read the paper, his Bible and Portal of Prayers each morning, he enjoyed helping others, going out to eat and playing cards with friends. He loved Mueller family reunions, traveling around the country with Dorothy or just going for rides in the country. He was always present for events his family was engaged in. Stan took great pride in being an honorable and faithful husband to Dorothy and father to Rock, Steve and Debbie; and Papa to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He will always be remembered as a good and faithful servant of the Lord, humble, tall and strong, loving, calm, intentional, a great listener, funny, honorable man, great friend and brother, the best husband, father and Papa. He will forever be remembered as having an enormous sweet tooth!
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; children, Deborah (Brian) Farber, Milan and Keith "Rock" (Kim) Edell, East Moline; eight grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; sister, Jane (Gary) Harroun; sister-in-law, Joyce Mueller; and several nieces and nephews.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steven Edell; brothers, Rev. Gilbert Mueller, Rev. Howard Mueller and Clarence Mueller.
The family would like to thank the staff at River Crossing for the care they gave Stanley. Online condolences may be left for the family at wheelanpressly.com
