IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stella Adele
(Grevas) Cudworth
February 10, 1931 – August 25, 2021
Stella Adele Cudworth, 90, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Silver Cross, Friendship Manor, Rock Island. Services will be 10 am Saturday, September 4, 2021 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, with visitation from 4-6 pm Friday, September 3, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island.
A Trisagion service will be 6 pm Friday at Wheelan's.
Stella was born in Rock Island, on February 10, 1931, a daughter of Angelos T. and Antigoni Koutselas Grevas. She attended the Villa De Chantal in Rock Island, graduating in 1949, and then attended both St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN and Marycrest College in Davenport, graduating in 1953.
Stella worked for Dr. Sam Durr in Rock Island, where she met her future husband, Charlie Cudworth, a pharmacist who owned the RI Prescription Shop. Their courtship began with a Jaycees tobogganing date, and they were married on January 7, 1961.
In her younger years, Stella was a member of the Junior Board of Rock Island, and was named Mardi Gras queen in 1960.
She loved young people, and dispensed her Stella-brand of wisdom to many!
Those left to cherish her memory include her children and their spouses, Anne (Quinn) Kirkpatrick and Tom (Lena) Cudworth, both of Rock Island; and grandchildren, Ethan Kirkpatrick, and Charlie and Logan Cudworth. Her greatest joy in life was being a "Yia Yia".
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988, parents and sister, Victoria Thompson.
The family would like to thank the loving caregivers at Silver Cross, and the UnityPoint Hospice staff for their unyielding compassion. We are grateful.
Memorials may be made to St. George, where Stella was a member.
