Stephen A. Kies (74) of Andalusia, IL. passed away on July 19, 2015 after a valiant fight against lung cancer. Steve was born February 10, 1941 in Kansas City, Mo. He attended Rockhurst High School. After graduating from Rockhurst University with an accounting degree, Steve worked for Western Electric (AT&T) in Kansas City, Chicago and Phoenix prior to his retirement.

Steve was an avid sportsman who enjoyed playing football, basketball and golf. He closely followed his hometown sports teams and attended numerous baseball playoffs and World Series games as well as the Chiefs Super Bowl win.

A very analytical person, Steve often entertained family and friends with logic tricks he described as "the wonders of math". He enjoyed playing card games, gardening and testing his luck at racetracks and casinos.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Harry and Dorothy and brother James.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Diane Steele-Kies, son Matthew, daughter in law Michaela grandchildren Hudson and Stella, brothers Dennis, Richard, Paul, and David, sisters Jacquie Hillhouse, Jeanne Kies, Kathy Behrens and Mary Hogan as well as a numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 24th, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Andalusia. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. No visitation is planned, arrangements are entrusted to Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, IL.
